Puff the Magic Dragon

A cosmic “dragon” seems to soar among the stars. In visible light (upper half), the dragon is hidden by dust and gas as if it is “frolicking in the autumn mist”. The dragon is visible in infrared (lower half) though. This creature is actually forming stars rapidly and is known as  M17 SWex. This photo was taken by Spitzer and managed by JPL.

Hubble's Fireworks

Hubble’s latest image looks like fireworks. Right? These “fireworks” are actually a nebula called NGC 3603.
